Help! My Son and His Wife Moved In and Now I Have to Tiptoe Around My Own Home
Hey everyone,
I really need some advice and thought this would be the best place to ask. So, here’s the deal: my son Peter and his wife Ariana recently asked if they could move into my apartment for a while. They’re going through a rough patch financially, and of course, I said yes because family comes first, right?
But now, I feel like a guest in my own home. I have to be super quiet all the time because Ariana works from home and needs complete silence for her job. Peter is also studying for some big exams, so he’s always in need of a quiet environment too. I get it, they have important things going on, but it’s starting to drive me nuts. I can’t even watch TV at a normal volume or have a phone conversation without feeling like I’m disturbing them.
I love them both dearly, but I’m starting to feel like I’ve lost my personal space and freedom. How do I balance being supportive without completely sacrificing my own comfort? Has anyone else been in a similar situation? How did you handle it? Any tips on setting boundaries without causing tension?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
Cheers,
Michael
