Help! Living with In-Laws is Driving Me Crazy!

Hey everyone,

I really need some advice and thought this would be the best place to get some honest opinions. So, here’s the deal: My mother always told me that living with your husband’s relatives isn’t the best idea. And now, I’m starting to see why she said that.

My father-in-law, Vincent, built this huge family house with two separate entrances for his kids. It sounded like a dream at first, but now it’s turning into a bit of a nightmare. My husband, Roger, and I live in one part of the house, while his brother Brian and his wife Naomi live in the other part. Vincent and his wife Victoria live in the main section of the house.

At first, it was great having everyone so close. But now, it’s starting to feel like we have no privacy. Vincent and Victoria are always popping in unannounced, and Brian and Naomi seem to think our part of the house is an extension of theirs. It’s getting really frustrating, and I don’t know how to set boundaries without causing a family feud.

Alice, my best friend, suggested having a family meeting to discuss boundaries, but I’m worried it will just make things awkward. I love my in-laws, but I need some space and independence. How do I approach this without hurting anyone’s feelings or causing drama?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
