Gerald and Hailey had spent the last year pouring their hearts and souls into renovating a charming old house on the outskirts of a small town in Virginia. With the nearest regional center an hour away by car, they had everything they needed for a peaceful life: local shops, a good school for their daughter, Nova, and enough distance from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The next day, Gerald discussed the conversation with Hailey. They decided to give it more thought and involve Nova in the decision-making process. Over the next few weeks, they talked about the pros and cons of moving, visited the new house several times, and even met some neighbors who seemed lovely.
