Help! I Messed Up with My Mother-in-Law and Now I’m Scared to Be Alone with Her
Hey everyone,
I really need some advice. I recently had a pretty bad encounter with my mother-in-law, Ruby, and now I’m scared to be alone with her. Here’s what happened:
Ruby has always been a bit difficult to deal with. She constantly finds ways to put me down and make me feel small. It’s like she enjoys seeing me uncomfortable. I usually try to brush it off, but recently, I just couldn’t take it anymore. We were at a family gathering, and she made yet another snide comment about my cooking. I snapped and said something really rude back to her. I know it wasn’t the right thing to do, but I just couldn’t hold it in any longer.
Now, things are super awkward. My husband, Anthony, is caught in the middle, and I feel terrible for putting him in this position. Ruby hasn’t spoken to me since, and I’m honestly scared to be alone with her. I don’t know how to fix this mess. Should I apologize? If so, how do I do it without making things worse? Or should I just avoid her altogether and hope things eventually blow over?
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? How did you handle it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Delilah
