Seeking Advice: Struggling to Understand Modern Customs
Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out because I’m in a bit of a dilemma and could really use some advice. My name is Charles, and my wife, Kinsley, and I recently went to visit our son, Peter. We were looking forward to spending some quality time with him and his family. However, when we arrived, Peter asked us to stay in a hotel instead of his home.
This request took us by surprise and left us feeling a bit hurt and confused. In our time, it was customary for family to stay together under one roof during visits. We don’t understand why Peter would prefer us to stay in a hotel. Is this a common practice nowadays? Are we missing something about modern customs and etiquette?
We love our son dearly and don’t want to create any tension or misunderstandings. We just want to understand his perspective and how we can navigate this situation without causing any hard feelings.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you handle it? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Charles
