Seeking Advice: Family Rift Over Property Transfer

Dear Society Members,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Nora, and I am facing a distressing family situation that I hope you can help me navigate.

Four months ago, I made the decision to transfer ownership of my apartment to my granddaughter, Willow. I believed this to be a prudent step to secure her future, given that she is starting a family and needs the stability. Unfortunately, this decision did not sit well with my daughter, Mia. Upon learning about the transfer, Mia became extremely upset and accused me of favoritism and unfair treatment.

Since then, Mia has completely cut off communication with me. She does not respond to my phone calls, texts, or attempts to visit her. This has been incredibly painful for me, as I have always had a close relationship with my daughter, and I never intended to cause any rift between us.

I am at a loss about how to proceed. I miss my daughter terribly and want to mend our relationship, but I also want to stand by my decision, which I believe was made with good intentions and reasoning. I am seeking advice on how to approach Mia to discuss this issue without escalating the conflict. How can I express my love and explain my actions to her? Is there a way to reconcile our differences so that we can move forward as a family?

Thank you for reading my letter. Any advice or similar experiences shared would be greatly appreciated.

Warm regards,

Nora
